No one should be detained in prison
People detained in prison face structural racism, stigmatisation as a ‘foreign national offender’, poor access to justice, restricted communications & the routine use of prolonged confinement to a cell.
Our latest research Catch 2022: Accessing Immigration Legal Advice from Prison found 89% of those interviewed had had difficulty accessing legal advice & that 74% were confined to a cell for more than 22 hours a day.
BID believes no one should be detained under immigration powers and that this inhumane practice must be abolished. Email your MP to asking them to act now.
